Evaluation

Preliminary Task
After 2 weeks of hard work, I can finally say that I have completed my magazine cover and contents page! During these 2 weeks, I have learnt how to use the SLR camera through which I learnt how to create different effects such as how to focus on a certain object and blur the rest of the image. I've also learnt how to use Photoshop and I have successfully designed 2 magazine pages on it, which I feel turned out well. Before this task, I had never used Photoshop and therefore I had no clue on how to use the program, but luckily I learnt most of it faster than I expected. Although I knew the basics of Photoshop, I discovered new tools as I went along, such as the blur tool. Along the way, I came up with many ideas which I added to my page, but after going further, I realised that it didn’t always work out, therefore I removed it. This improved my skills in coming up with ideas. Whilst comparing my flat plan to my final turnout, I could see the difference clearly.

We were given an exciting task! our brief told us that our aim was to take pictures around the school to persuade more art teachers to join Norbury Manor and teach art and here are a few of the images...

Shot List sketches

Our next task was to create a shot list. I sketched a few possible images that I may include in my magazine. As it’s for Norbury Manor students, all the sketches include Norbury Manor students. this would allow the readers to connect to the image easily. I includes small details about the shots such as if the image was a close up, mid shot or of it was eye level...

Flat Plan of my Magazine

To help me plan how my magazine may look, I created a flat plan of my magazine. I added a sketch or the image that may appear on my front cover and an image of what may appear on my contents page. As it is going to be a magazine, I had to make sure it looked like one, so I included little notes around it like the ones on magazines. The title is bold and looks posh, and the font links well with the meaning of the word. The contents page also stands out a lot. The image is strong and goes well with the theme of the magazine. As the magazine is for the students at Norbury Manor, an image of a girl in uniform works perfectly.

As I have to create a college magazine, I have been thinking extremely hard for a name. Whilst thinking about a name, I also had to consider who my target audience would be, and I had to make sure that my magazine name connected well with the audience. I wanted my target audience to be the students at Norbury Manor. Young students normally have a dream. Some dream to achieve good GCSE’s, others dream that one day they will grow up to have an amazing job like a doctor or lawyer, some others dream to become a singer. Students normally have a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work. They balance out fin with work The name I thought would be perfect for my magazine was ‘Ambition’.

My name is Khloe Smith. I am a student at Norbury Manor High School and I have been here for three years now. At the end of last year, I picked my subjects. As I have had many deadlines, I have had to stay back after school many days. As well as working hard, I also like having fun. After I have got my work done, I normally relax with friends and go out on weekends.  Another thing I love is watching TV. One of my favourite programs is Keeping up with the Kardashians. Something else that I love is to listen to music. On many occasions, it has help me get through the stressful moments with my work… if I continue balancing out my hard work with my fun, one day I would love to stand on  my own 2 feet.
